Carolina Panthers Set to Get Running Back Help After Bye Week

October 5, 2026 - 19:34

The Carolina Panthers are preparing to welcome back a key member of their backfield once the team returns from its Week 5 bye. According to reports, the running back who has been sidelined with an injury is expected to be ready to play in the next game on the schedule.

The timing could not be better for a Carolina offense that has leaned heavily on its ground game throughout the early part of the season. Depth at the position has been tested in recent weeks, forcing coaches to shuffle the rotation and give additional carries to players further down the depth chart.

Getting a proven runner back into the mix should ease some of that pressure. It gives the offense another reliable option on early downs and helps keep the workload balanced across the group. The coaching staff has been cautious with injuries this year, so the bye week arrives at an ideal moment for recovery and conditioning.

The team has not yet announced an official activation, but all signs point to the veteran being available when preparations ramp up for the upcoming opponent. His presence would add experience and physicality to a rushing attack that wants to control possession and take pressure off the passing game.

For now, the Panthers will use the extra week to heal up and fine tune the game plan. If everything stays on track, the backfield should look much closer to full strength when the season resumes.
