Eintracht Frankfurt abandon Kalimuendo deal over Nottingham Forest price tag

Eintracht Frankfurt have ended their pursuit of Arnaud Kalimuendo after failing to agree on a transfer fee with Nottingham Forest. The French striker impressed during a loan spell at the Deutsche Bank Park in the second half of last season, and the club had been keen to bring him back on a permanent basis.

However, talks have stalled over the price tag set by the Premier League side. Frankfurt officials felt the valuation was too high for a player who has yet to prove himself at the highest level over a full campaign. The Bundesliga club have now decided to move on to other targets rather than overpay for a player who would have been a squad option rather than a guaranteed starter.

Kalimuendo scored four goals in twelve league appearances during his time in Germany, showing flashes of quality but also inconsistency. Nottingham Forest, who signed him from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, are under no pressure to sell and have taken a firm stance in negotiations.

Frankfurt's sporting director confirmed that the club are still looking for attacking reinforcements but will not be forced into a deal that does not make financial sense. The club have a history of finding value in less obvious markets, and they are expected to shift their focus to younger players or those with expiring contracts.

Kalimuendo will now return to Forest for pre-season, where he will compete for minutes in a squad that already has several established forwards. His future remains uncertain, but a move back to Germany now looks unlikely unless Forest lower their demands.
