Former Bruin Signs Undrafted Free Agent Deal With Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have added a local arm to their organization, signing UCLA relief pitcher Ian May as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 MLB Draft. May, who spent his college career with the Bruins, will now begin his professional journey in the Dodgers' system.

May becomes the 11th former Bruin to join an MLB organization this year. UCLA baseball saw 10 players selected during the draft itself, and May now follows that group into the pro ranks. His signing gives the Dodgers another young pitcher with experience pitching in a major college conference.

During his time at UCLA, May worked primarily out of the bullpen, showing the ability to handle high-leverage situations. While he went undrafted, the Dodgers saw enough in his potential to bring him in as a free agent. The team has a history of developing unheralded arms into useful big league pieces, and May will get a chance to prove himself in their farm system.

For UCLA, the continued pipeline to professional baseball remains strong. With May's signing, the program has now placed more than a dozen players into MLB organizations this year, a sign of the depth and talent the Bruins continue to produce.
