Former FSU running back waived by Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys made a final roster decision on Saturday, waiving former Florida State running back Jashaun Corbin as the team reduced its active roster to the league limit of 53 players. Corbin, who joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2023, spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad and appeared in only a handful of games. He saw limited carries during the preseason this year, but the Cowboys opted to keep a deeper group at the position, including starter Rico Dowdle and veteran Ezekiel Elliott.

Corbin's college career began at Texas A&M before he transferred to Florida State, where he rushed for over 800 yards and scored six touchdowns in his final season with the Seminoles. Known for his burst and ability to catch passes out of the backfield, he was viewed as a developmental prospect with special teams value. However, the numbers game in Dallas worked against him, especially with the emergence of younger backs in training camp.

The waiver move does not necessarily end his time in the NFL. If Corbin clears waivers, he could be re-signed to the Cowboys' practice squad, assuming he passes through unclaimed. Several teams around the league are still looking for depth at running back, so there is a chance another franchise picks him up. For now, Corbin will wait and see what comes next, hoping his preseason film is enough to earn another opportunity.
