The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) season continues to heat up as teams across the state push toward the postseason. In boys' basketball, the defending Division 1 champions from Cambridge Rindge & Latin remain undefeated after a hard-fought 68-62 victory over Catholic Memorial. Senior guard Marcus Johnson led the way with 24 points, including four three-pointers in the fourth quarter. On the girls' side, Braintree High School extended its winning streak to seven games with a 55-43 win over Needham, powered by a double-double from forward Sarah Chen.

In hockey action, St. John's Prep shut out Xaverian Brothers 3-0 in a Catholic Conference showdown, with goalie Liam O'Brien stopping all 28 shots. The win keeps St. John's atop the conference standings. Meanwhile, the Division 2 girls' hockey bracket saw a major upset as No. 8 seed Hingham knocked off top-ranked Duxbury, 2-1, in overtime.

For winter track, the MIAA Division 1 indoor championships are set for this weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center, with several athletes eyeing state records. In swimming, the preliminary heats for the state meet begin Friday at Boston University.
