Jaxon Smith-Njigba Finds End Zone in Seahawks Loss to 49ers

October 12, 2026 - 11:35

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught a touchdown pass during his team's Week 5 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, though the score was not enough to prevent a loss for Seattle.

The second-year receiver connected with quarterback Geno Smith on the scoring play, continuing to establish himself as a reliable target in the Seahawks passing attack. The touchdown marked another step forward for the former Ohio State standout, who has been working to carve out a larger role in Seattle's offense during the early portion of the 2024 season.

San Francisco's defense presented a difficult challenge throughout the game, pressuring Smith and limiting Seattle's ability to move the ball consistently. Despite those obstacles, Smith-Njigba managed to find separation and make plays when opportunities arose.

The Seahawks entered the game looking to build momentum in NFC West play, but the 49ers proved to be a tough opponent on their home field. Seattle's offense showed flashes of productivity, with Smith-Njigba's touchdown serving as one of the highlights.

Smith-Njigba's development remains a key storyline for Seattle as the season progresses. The young receiver has shown improved route running and chemistry with his quarterback, traits that could pay dividends in the weeks ahead.

Seattle will look to regroup and address the issues that surfaced in the loss. The team returns to action next week hoping to get back in the win column and keep pace in a competitive division race.
