Fox Sports host Joy Taylor didn't hold back when asked about the league's latest push to expand the regular season to 18 games. Speaking on her daily show, she dismissed the idea as a money grab that ignores what fans actually want.
"You can't dedicate your entire life to watching the NFL," she said, pointing out that adding more games doesn't make the product better, it just stretches everyone thinner. Taylor argued that players already deal with brutal physical tolls over a 17-game season, and adding another week only raises injury risks without adding real drama.
She also took aim at the league's reasoning. The NFL says fans want more football, but Taylor called that a convenient excuse. "Nobody is begging for more regular-season games," she said. "What they want is better playoff stakes, fewer meaningless matchups, and less dead air during the week."
Taylor suggested that if the league really cared about fan experience, it would fix the preseason, shorten the offseason, or improve the quality of Thursday night games instead of just adding another Sunday slate. She noted that the push feels less about competition and more about squeezing every possible dollar from broadcast partners and ticket buyers.
Her comments come as owners and players are expected to revisit the schedule format in upcoming labor talks. For now, Taylor's take is clear: the league's appetite for more games has nothing to do with the love of the sport, and everything to do with the bottom line.
