The NBA has issued suspensions to four players for their roles in an on-court brawl during Wednesday night's game between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets. The incident occurred in the third quarter of the Pistons' 110-104 victory at Spectrum Center.
Detroit's Isaiah Stewart has received the most severe penalty, a three-game suspension without pay for initiating an altercation and forcefully confronting Hornets players. Charlotte's Miles Bridges has been suspended for three games as well for his escalation of the situation and for throwing a punch.
Two additional players received one-game suspensions: Detroit's Killian Hayes for throwing a punch and escalating the altercation, and Charlotte's Nick Richards for his role in the confrontation. All four players were initially ejected from the contest following the scuffle.
The league stated the suspensions are a result of the players' actions during the incident, which involved multiple individuals leaving the bench area. The penalties underscore the NBA's commitment to maintaining a professional and safe environment on the court, with swift disciplinary action for conduct deemed detrimental to the game. The involved players will begin serving their suspensions in their teams' next respective games.
