The Phoenix Suns have no interest in acquiring Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball, according to league sources. This clarification comes after reports surfaced that multiple teams are actively pursuing the young star.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that several franchises have been making strong efforts to trade for Ball, who has established himself as one of the NBA's most dynamic young playmakers. However, the Suns are not among those teams, despite speculation that could have linked them to a potential deal.
Ball, 23, is averaging 28.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds this season while shooting 43 percent from the field. His flashy style and scoring ability have made him a coveted asset, but Phoenix appears content with its current backcourt rotation, which features Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
The Suns are focused on building chemistry around their core trio of Booker, Beal, and Kevin Durant. Adding Ball would likely require significant roster changes and draft capital, which the franchise is not willing to part with at this time.
Charlotte has not indicated any urgency to move Ball, who is under contract through the 2028-29 season. However, with the trade deadline approaching, the Hornets are expected to field calls from interested parties. For now, Phoenix remains on the sidelines.
