Pro Leagues Launch Responsible Gaming Initiative Focused on Young Adults

The NBA and WNBA are rolling out a joint responsible gaming campaign aimed at teaching fans about the dangers tied to sports betting and prediction markets. The effort places special emphasis on young adults, a group that has grown up with easy access to wagering apps and online platforms.

League officials say the campaign will use public service announcements, social media content, and in-arena messaging to reach audiences throughout the season. The material will highlight how quickly betting can shift from casual entertainment into a harmful habit, and it will point fans toward support resources for problem gambling.

The push comes as sports betting expands across many states and prediction markets gain traction among younger users. Critics have warned that constant advertising and mobile access can normalize wagering for people who may not fully understand the odds or the financial risks.

Players and coaches are expected to take part in some of the messaging, sharing personal perspectives on how betting culture affects the game and its fans. The leagues have also said they will work with advocacy groups that specialize in gambling addiction and mental health support.

The campaign is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks and will run across multiple platforms. Organizers describe it as a long term commitment rather than a one time announcement, with plans to adjust the approach as new forms of betting emerge.
