United States international striker Folarin Balogun is reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Premier League side Everton from French club Monaco. British media outlets reported on Monday that the Merseyside club has agreed on a fee in the region of 40 million pounds, which is roughly 54 million dollars, for the 23-year-old forward.
According to the British Press Association, the proposed deal would see Balogun sign a four-year contract with the Toffees. However, the report notes that personal terms between the player and the club have not yet been finalized. The move would need to be completed before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday evening to go through.
Balogun, who was born in New York and came up through the Arsenal academy, has spent the last two seasons with Monaco in Ligue 1. He has earned 15 caps for the United States national team, scoring three goals. Everton are looking to add firepower to their attack as they aim to climb the Premier League table, and Balogun is seen as a key target to bolster their forward line. The deal is still pending final paperwork, but all signs point to the American making a swift return to English football.
