Rockets Open Season With Dominant Win Over Mavericks

October 22, 2026 - 10:19

The Houston Rockets started their season on a strong note, securing a 128 to 110 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in their opening game. The Rockets controlled the pace from the early minutes and never let the Mavericks settle into a rhythm, building a lead that held up through all four quarters.

Houston's offense looked sharp throughout the night, moving the ball well and finding open looks against a Dallas defense that struggled to keep up. The scoring was spread across the roster, which made it difficult for the Mavericks to key in on any single player. Defensively, the Rockets forced turnovers and limited second-chance opportunities, turning stops into quick points on the other end.

Dallas had stretches of solid play but could not string together enough stops to close the gap. The Mavericks showed flashes on offense, yet the Rockets answered nearly every run with one of their own, keeping the margin comfortable down the stretch.

The win gives Houston early momentum as the team looks to build on a promising start. For Dallas, the loss offers clear areas to address before the next outing. Both teams now turn their attention to the games ahead, with the Rockets aiming to carry this form forward and the Mavericks working to tighten things up on both ends of the floor.
